Yup, C:AoR is not dead as many might be led to believe. Next army down the pipes is Rams (Acheron, undead). See the previews here:

Hmm...with the Elf army (not sure which yet) coming out end of the year, I'm not sure I could 'advocate' Mantic Game's Kings of War elves and undead. Buying these army boxes might be cheaper in time and money. Maybe.

I was quite impressed with the AT43 Oni, but these are awful paint-jobs. The Black Paladins especially, they look like bare plastic.........

Yeah, the Black Paladins just scream for re-painting. I think the Confrontation minis are not painted as well as the AT-43 minis, in general. The Lions, Wolves and Griffins look really basic.
Still, the army boxes are good deals - assembled and prepainted and good price. One would have to do a proper price<->minis comparison wrt Mantic's minis.
