WARZONE: RESSURECTION – Razide

For some strange reason I decided to get some painting done in the late afternoon. I do need to get more figures done and the brushes were all within reach. I have been meaning to get in some Warzone: Resurrection game time in. The few games with the plastic looking figures did not do it for me. I pulled two big figures on display on my shelf to decide; Razide and ALAKAI

I placed Razide and ALAKAI side by side so i could decided which one to do and while ALAKAI looked awesome, I went with Razide. This new sculpt is really over the top. So this one was IT.

Ah…. Razide or to the uninitiated “Big Red Guy with Big Gun”.

This fella i had an eye on for a while. I saw some new pictures of Razide painted with a more normal skin tone and that really looked great. But hey, this is Razide! (If you google what this fella looked like before this sculpt, you’d see how the red skin just made him totally larger than red!)

So i began with a primer of ARMY PAINTER’s Matt Black and then a directional blast of Army Painter’s MATT WHITE spray to identify the highlights. A nice cover of  ARMY PAINTER’s PURE RED was applied over the initial primer. This technique is bloody quick but what this technique also does is gives the figure nice definition and the undercoat of black and white helps the red on top shade and highlight the figure with almost no brush work or airbrush.

The feet and forearm were given a purple wash using ARMY PAINTER’s PURPLE wash. I have been wanting to try this for a while and the size of the figure game a chance to see how this technique would work.

The loincloth was Army Painter’s DESERT YELLOW and a SOFT TONE wash. The bits of “cybernetics” popping out of the figure’s massive frame is SHINING SILVER and PURPLE WASH.

Plaguedealer (thanks Fangir)  was painted with ARMY PAINTER’s Bolt Gun Metal and Shining Silver with P3’s Armour Wash finishing the job.

WARZONE: RESSURECTION – Cuirassier “Attila” MKIII

We brought in Warzone: Resurrection a while back. The initial excitement meant I tried to get as many painted as possible but only got as far as 10 figures and as per usual I forgot about them.

Today however, I pulled this fella out of the display cabinet and decided some paint was needed.

I pulled out….

Cuirassier “Attila” MKIII

The cuirassier is from the Cybertronic Corporation Megacorp. This Megacorp famed for its advanced technology and while they regard all the other corporations as a threat their main adversaries are the Brotherhood and the Dark Legion.

This fella has Ultrasonic Resonating as a skill and that means he reduces the Armour or any thing within its range.

The initial Matt Black Spray

However, painting this posed a small dilemma, the figure is metallic. Do I try the “non-metallic metal” technique or do I just use metallic paint.

Metallic paint….

Castle Tower Ruins – The Base

A while back (or at least that’s what it feels like at the moment) I started working on a terrain/scenery piece. I  thought i’d get it done on the very same day until I realized I had lost the one piece of basing I wanted for the piece. I looked EVERYWHERE!

…as Brandon will tell you…. everything stopped as I looked frantically for it.

I didn’t find it. The paint project was done.

Yesterday, as I was looking for my Motorhead Bad Magic CD, I found this under a pile of comics on the floor. THE MISSING BASE PIECE!

There was going to be no substitute after I saw what the final piece would look like in my minds eye. So this was a joy find.

I used PVA to stick the ruins on the CD and started tarting up my ruins.

The base color (even if you can’t really see it is actually

Vallejo Saddle Brown

Vallejo Reflective Green

Vallejo Middlestone

Vallejo Brown Violet.

The pebbles was something left here by some fella who wanted to do a huge terrian project but in the end left me with a ton of basing material. (These are all mine now, thank you. Three years is long enough to keep it for you.)

The lil bushs are ARMY PAINTER’s POISON IVY as is the Static Grass.

I honestly must do more of these……
